Peugeot 607 Gear Selection Error

Afternoon. My 2003 Peugeot 607 diesel is playing up. It's got 226546 km on the clock. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, the gear selection isn't showing on the speedometer, the cruise control's packed in, and sometimes it won't even start. Suspect it's the clutch pedal switch but wanted to see if anyone has suggestions before I start poking around?

Greetings. The symptoms you describe are quite similar to a problem I once encountered with a 2012 Volvo V70. The gear selector display malfunctioned, and the cruise control was inoperative. Have you inspected the cable and plug connections of the clutch pedal switch? An electrical fault seems plausible given the symptoms.

Thanks for the reply! Cable and plug... Anything specific I should be looking for? Is there a common failure point?

In my experience, chafing of the cable where it passes through the firewall is a common issue, as is corrosion within the plug connector itself. Although it was on a different brand and model, I would strongly advise you to consult a workshop. It may prove to be challenging to diagnose the root cause of the problem on your own.

Cheers, appreciate the input, turns out you were spot on. It was a dodgy connection on the clutch switch. 95€ later and it's all sorted!
