Peugeot 607 Jerking Whistling Engine Light

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2003 Peugeot 607 diesel. It's got almost 150,000 km on the clock. The check engine light keeps popping on, and the car jerks something awful when I try to accelerate. Also, I'm hearing a whistling, almost hissing sound when I give it some gas. Sometimes, it even stalls when idling, and I've noticed my fuel consumption is way up, plus the engine just feels…weak. I suspect it's a bad boost pressure sensor. Could be a defective cable or plug connection, maybe? Anyone else had this?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my 607 – jerking, whistling, engine light, the works. Is the whistling sound louder when accelerating?

Yeah, the whistling definitely gets louder when I accelerate. It's almost deafening at times. Did replacing the pressure sensor fix your problem? Where is the sensor located, near the intake manifold or air intake?

Okay, so the loud whistling is the same issue I had. I didn't fix it myself, I had to take it to a workshop, but the mechanic told me it was definitely related to the turbo system and pressure. They said it's not something you want to mess with if you're not experienced.

Right, that's what I was afraid of. I'll take it to a shop then. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Turns out, it was indeed the boost pressure sensor and a defective cable. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted.
