Peugeot 607 Oil Contamination

I'm stressed. My 2001 Peugeot 607 diesel is throwing a fit. The speedometer's showing a warning light, and the oil pressure lamp is on constantly. Mileage is at 180035 km. I suspect oil contamination. Could exceeding the maintenance interval cause this?

I had something similar on my 607. Check your oil filter and engine oil. Could be oil sludge buildup. When was the last time you did an oil change?

Oil change was maybe a bit overdue, I admit. But sludge already? Seriously? How bad was yours?

HarleyRider

Yeah, mine was pretty bad. The oil was like tar. Just get it checked at a workshop; they'll know what to do.

Thanks. You were spot on. Took it to the workshop, and it was indeed oil contamination from me missing the maintenance interval. Cost me 165€ for the oil change and filter replacement. Lesson learned!
