Peugeot 607 Smoke and Warning Light

I have a 2007 Peugeot 607 with a gasoline engine and about 109k km. I'm getting a warning light and seeing smoke when I accelerate. Could this be related to the exhaust back pressure sensor? I've heard they can cause these issues.

That's interesting... I had something similar happen in my 607 (although mine's a bit older). Was the engine performance also affected? Because if it is, it really sounds like a pressure sensor issue. It's frustrating, I know!

Yeah, the engine feels a bit sluggish, particularly when I'm trying to get up to speed. So you think it's likely the exhaust back pressure sensor, then? Did you notice a big difference after replacing it?

Sluggish engine performance definitely points towards that sensor. I'm not a mechanic, but the symptoms are so similar to what I experienced. I'd seriously consider getting it checked at a workshop. No point in guessing.

Thanks for the insight. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to the shop and get the sensor looked at. Turns out, it was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor! Cost me 245€. Runs like new again.
