Peugeot 607 Ventilation Problem

I've got a 2002 Peugeot 607, diesel engine, and I'm having a nightmare with the ventilation system. The error memory keeps throwing up a fault related to the defrost air distribution flap. The heating output is also way too low, especially on the windshield. It fogs up like crazy! I've checked all the obvious stuff, like fuses, but no luck. My gut feeling is it's either a dodgy cable or plug connection to the flap motor itself. Anyone else experienced anything similar?

I had a similar issue on my 607. Have you checked the heater core? Sometimes a blockage there can cause similar symptoms. It might be worth investigating before you start tearing apart the air distribution system.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'heater core', do you mean physically checking it for blockages, or is there a way to test it electronically? I'm not the most mechanically gifted, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I meant physically checking it. The low heat output and the error code about the flap suggest a potential issue with airflow or temperature regulation. A blocked heater core could restrict hot coolant flow, leading to both problems. However, considering the stored error code, going to a workshop is a good idea, especially if you are not experienced. They have the tools and knowledge to properly diagnose the problem. I had to pay 95€ for the repair, but at least now the windshield is not fogging anymore.

Okay, that's really helpful, thank you! I think I'll bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. It's probably beyond my capabilities, and I don't want to make things worse. Hopefully, it is just a simple cable or plug connection. Thanks again for your help!
