Peugeot 806 Diesel Engine Issues

I own a Peugeot 806, built in 2000, with a diesel engine. Lately, the fuel consumption has increased, and the engine power feels reduced. The engine stalls at idle sometimes, and there's a plume of smoke when I accelerate. I suspected the air intake, but after inspecting it without finding any issues, I am at a loss. Could it be the injection system?

Sounds familiar. I've got a 806 too. I had similar issues a while back – rough idling, feeling like I was towing a trailer uphill, and a bit of smoke. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the injection components? That was the culprit for me. Give those a wiggle and see if anything changes.

Thank you for your suggestion! I'm not particularly mechanically inclined, so could you be more specific about which cable and plug connections I should be checking? Is there a particular component of the injection system that is more prone to this issue?

Alright, no worries. Honestly, tracing them all can be a bit of a pain, and if you aren't super confident, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. For me, it turned out to be a faulty connection on one of the injectors. The mechanic spotted it pretty quick. Saved me a load of headaches.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for your help! I took your advice and brought the car to a workshop. Turns out it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection to one of the injection components as you suggested! They fixed it for 95€ and my Peugeot is running smoothly again. I really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!
