I haven’t checked the fluid, but the error code points directly to the transmission control unit. A defective car computer seems pretty clear, doesn't it? Just trying to gauge how screwed I am here…

Yeah, if the error code is clear about the control unit, it's likely the culprit. Sadly, those automatic gearboxes can be expensive when they go wrong. I'd still get a professional to confirm, but prepare for a trip to the workshop!

Sounds rough! Slow paddle shifter response and slipping gears usually point to gearbox issues. Is there any error code being displayed? Could be a sensor issue or low transmission fluid, have you checked?
