Peugeot 806 headlight range control faulty

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2001 Peugeot 806 (gasoline engine). The headlight range control seems faulty. I'm getting a computer error, and the warning light is on. The low beams are shining way too low, or sometimes way too high. I've checked the headlight switch and it seems okay, but I’m not sure where to look next. Help!

The symptoms you describe suggest a fault in the auto-leveling system. Have you inspected the electrical connectors to the headlight servomotors for corrosion or damage? Also, has the light intensity been manually adjusted recently using the in-cabin control?

Thanks for the reply! Where exactly are the servomotors located? And I haven't touched any in-cabin controls recently, at least not that I remember. Could it really be just a corroded connector?

The servomotors are integrated into the headlight assembly itself. While a corroded connector is possible, considering the error code and erratic beam behavior, a defective servomotor within the headlight is the likelier culprit. I recommend a workshop diagnoses the light unit's control module.

Okay, thanks so much for the advice! Turns out it was a defective servomotor as you suspected. The workshop confirmed it, and they quoted me 1040€ for the repair. Ouch!
