No, I haven't cleaned the intake. Is that likely the cause? Would a good clean fix it, or am I looking at replacing the valve?

Often a seriously contaminated intake is the root cause. Cleaning might help temporarily, but if the valve's already faulty, replacement is the long-term fix. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Intake was heavily contaminated, which ruined the valve. Ended up costing 425€ for the whole job.

Sounds familiar. Has the intake been cleaned recently? Dirty intakes can mess with the valve.
