Peugeot 806 NOx Catalyst Aging and Exhaust Leak

I'm facing a perplexing issue with my 2001 Peugeot 806, gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the error memory shows NOx storage catalyst aging. Plus, I've noticed an exhaust leak. Could all of this be connected? It's only got 79315 km on the clock. Is this perhaps a catalytic converter issue? Or maybe something else in the NOx emissions system?

I had a similar issue with my 806. Same symptoms. Is the exhaust leak near the catalytic converter? Could be the source of your problems.

Yeah, exhaust leak near the catalytic converter. I took it to a workshop, they confirmed the leak and the NOx catalyst issue were related. Better get it checked.

I took it to the local mechanic. As you predicted, the exhaust leak was the culprit. The leak damaged the NOx storage catalyst, which caused it to fail. Cost me 265€ for the repair in the end. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
