Peugeot 806 Oxygen Sensor Heater Error

Hi, I've got a 2000 Peugeot 806 with a gasoline engine. I'm getting an error for the oxygen sensor heater. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed higher fuel consumption. I've checked the obvious stuff like fuses, but no luck. Any ideas?

Whoa, oxygen sensor heater failure, bummer! That's usually a pain. Is it just throwing the code, or is the car running rough too? Could be a dodgy connection somewhere. Have you wiggled the wires and the plug going to the O2 sensor?

Yeah, just the code and higher fuel consumption. I've wiggled the connector a bit, but didn't really give it a proper look. What should I be looking for specifically on the connector?

Alright, code plus fuel guzzling points towards a lazy sensor for sure! Check for corrosion, bent pins, or even a loose wire. Could be a break in the cable itself. If the wiggle test changed anything at all, then Bingo, there’s your problem. Otherwise, time for the multimeter. Replacing that whole sensor isn't gonna be cheap: around 95€ they say!

Thanks! I checked the connector more carefully, and you were right – one of the pins was bent. Straightened it out, cleared the code, and so far, so good. Hopefully, that's all it was.
