Crankshaft position sensor... interesting. I hadn't considered that. When you mention checking the wiring, are you referring to a visual inspection for obvious damage, or is there a specific test I should perform, perhaps with a multimeter, to ascertain the integrity of the connection?

Yeah, I'd start with a good look for anything obvious – frayed wires, corroded connectors, that kind of thing. Then, if you've got a multimeter, you can check for continuity. Honestly, though, if you're not comfortable doing that, it might be worth taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and save you a lot of hassle. That's what I ended up doing.

Took the Peugeot to my local mechanic. They confirmed it was a defective fuel pressure sensor, traced to a faulty connection. Total cost for the replacement and repair was 95€ Thank you for sharing your experience and pointing me in the right direction!

Hey, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same problem with my old Opel Astra – check engine light, rough running, the works. Turned out to be a dodgy sensor too. In my case, it was the crankshaft position sensor, but the symptoms sound very similar. Did you check the wiring to the sensor? Sometimes a loose connection can cause all sorts of problems.
