Peugeot 807 Battery Drain

I'm having a recurring heavily discharged battery issue with my 2004 Peugeot 807 diesel. The speedometer shows an error, lights are weak and flicker, and there's an error stored. The battery is very weak when starting after the car sits for a few days at 280365 km. Could this be a failing battery sensor, or are there other potential causes?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Renault Scenic a few years back. Weak battery, weird electrical glitches. Have you checked the voltage regulator or the alternator? Those were the culprits in my case.

Thanks. The voltage regulator and alternator tested fine. Could you elaborate on the electrical glitches you experienced? Any specific error codes or component failures that might offer a comparison?

Right, mine was a bit of a mess, to be honest. Kept getting random ABS and ESP errors, plus the radio would cut out sometimes. Turned out the voltage regulator was sending spikes through the system. If your regulator and alternator are fine, and you suspect the battery sensor, it might be worth getting it professionally diagnosed. Those electrical gremlins can be a real pain to track down yourself. I ended up taking mine to a workshop.

I appreciate your shared experience and recommendation. Following your advice and further investigation, I identified a defective battery sensor as the likely cause. The repair, including parts and labor, is estimated at 315€. Thanks again; your insights were invaluable in guiding my troubleshooting.
