Where on the wiring harness should I look? How can I test the wires without messing things up?

On my Volvo, the wire break was hidden in the rubber boot protecting the wires from the door frame to the door. I couldn't see it at first. Wiggling the wires while watching the central locking pinpointed it. But modern car electronics are complex. Get a technician to look at it to avoid making it worse.

Took it to a shop, and you and they were right: the cable or plug connection was bad. Repair cost 95€ Thank you for the help.

I had a similar issue with my Volvo V70. The central locking acted up, and it was a bad door sensor. Sounds like an electrical problem, maybe a broken wire or corroded connector in the door latch. Did you check the wiring harness between the door and the car body? They get damaged from opening and closing.
