Injectors, huh? That's interesting. I hadn't really thought about those. Is there any way to test them without taking them all out? I'm not sure I have the tools or the know-how to do that. Or, is there a fuel additive I could try that might clean them out?

Unfortunately, I don't know of any reliable way to test them yourself. With my Volvo, the garage ran some diagnostics that pinpointed the faulty injector. As for fuel additives, I'm always wary of those 'miracle cure' products. They might help a bit, but I doubt they'll fix a truly defective injector. Honestly, your best bet is probably to take it to a workshop and get it properly diagnosed. It's worth the cost of a proper diagnosis to avoid potentially causing more damage by trying to DIY it.

Thanks for the advice! I think you're right; I'll bite the bullet and take it to a shop. It was indeed the cold start injector as you suspected, it needed replacing. Cost me 515€ but runs great again.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70, though mine was a diesel. The symptoms were almost identical: hard starting and rough running when cold. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty injector. The ECU wasn't getting the fuel mixture quite right when cold, causing problems. Have you considered the injectors might be the culprit?
