Peugeot 807 engine stalling power loss

I'm experiencing a concerning issue with my 2014 Peugeot 807 diesel. The check engine light keeps illuminating, and the engine has stalled a couple of times when idling. I've also noticed a significant reduction in engine power. Could this be related to a defective fuel volume regulator? The car has 178831 km. I'm quite worried.

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Peugeot 807 diesel is experiencing engine stalling, power loss, and an illuminated check engine light. The issue is suspected to be related to a defective fuel volume regulator, potentially caused by a faulty high-pressure fuel pump. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle diagnosed and repaired by a professional workshop, which ultimately confirmed the problem and resolved it.

That sounds like a real pain! I had a similar issue with my old car years ago - a dodgy sensor caused all sorts of mayhem. Rough idling and power loss are classic symptoms of a few different things. Have you noticed any engine misfires or unusual noises? Maybe it's worth checking the car sensors, that fixed my problem back then.

I haven't specifically noticed engine misfires, but the rough idling is definitely present. Which car sensors are you referring to specifically? Is there any chance it could be related to a defective high pressure pump, as that's what I've read?

It's tricky to say for sure without proper diagnostics, but the high-pressure fuel pump could indeed be the culprit, especially with those symptoms. From my understanding and limited experience, the fuel regulator issues can be caused by it. Honestly, given the complexity, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. These kinds of automotive repair issues can get messy quickly!

I appreciate your input and sharing your past experience! I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective fuel volume regulator caused by the high pressure pump. The repair cost was a hefty 1510€, but at least it's resolved now.
