Peugeot 807 Exhaust Flap Issue

My 2010 Peugeot 807 with a gasoline engine has 143193 km. I think the exhaust flaps aren't working right. I'm getting an error, the exhaust is louder, and the engine is noisy after a cold start. Sounds like a defective exhaust flap. Has anyone had similar exhaust issues or exhaust valve problems?

Sounds familiar! I've had similar issues with my 807. Louder exhaust than normal and a rough start were the first signs. Did you notice any difference in fuel consumption or engine performance? I initially thought it was an exhaust leak somewhere, but the noise seemed to be coming from further up. Have you tried visually inspecting the flap mechanism? It might be seized or the actuator could be faulty.

Thanks! I haven't seen big changes in fuel use or performance, but maybe a small drop. I checked the flap, but it's hard to see well without tools. I couldn't tell if it was stuck. How did you confirm the actuator was bad?

It was easier for me to take it to a workshop. They used a diagnostic tool, and the error code pointed to the flap actuator. They could also move the flap and show me it was stuck. Getting to it properly means lifting the car and removing parts. Get it diagnosed properly. It's better to be safe when working on the exhaust.
