Peugeot 807 gear shift issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Peugeot 807 is experiencing gear shift issues, including a malfunctioning gear shift indicator, grinding gears, and a blank display, accompanied by error codes. Initial checks of fuses and battery resets did not resolve the problem. The likely cause is identified as a faulty control unit, which was confirmed by a professional diagnosis. Replacing the control unit resolved the issue.

Feels like I'm forcing a square peg through a round hole. Fuses are good, and the battery trick didn’t work. No recent work. It just started out of the blue. Is there a chance the gear selector itself is fried? Or is the control unit the problem?

If the simple stuff didn't work, you're getting error codes, and it started suddenly, it's likely the control unit. It's like your car's brain is misfiring. This sounds like a job for the pros. Get it scanned and diagnosed properly. You'll save yourself headaches in the long run.

I had a feeling it was something like that. Took it to the shop and you nailed it – cooked control unit. 1000€ later, it's purring again. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like your Peugeot's having an existential crisis! Does it feel like you're stirring a pot of rocks when you try to shift? Have you checked simple things like fuses or disconnecting the battery to reset the system? Any recent work done before this started?
