Peugeot 807 preheating lamp issue

Hi, I have a 2005 Peugeot 807, diesel engine, with only 24619 km. Recently, the preheating lamp doesn't switch off and the error memory has stored a fault. I suspect it's a glow plug issue. Has anyone experienced this? Could a defective glow plug be the culprit? Seems like it might affect engine combustion. Any thoughts before I take it in?

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 807, although mine's a bit newer. Same symptoms: preheating light staying on and an error code. Was your engine misfiring at all, or have you noticed any change in fuel efficiency? Also, how is the cold start?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't noticed any engine misfire, but it does seem a bit harder to start when cold. Fuel efficiency seems normal. Could it really be just the glow plugs, or could it be something more serious related to the engine?

Sounds very familiar. In my case, it was just the glow plugs. I'd still recommend getting it checked at a workshop to be sure. But from your description, I'd bet it's just that. Don't keep driving like that for a long time, the unburnt fuel may damage your engine.

Thanks a lot! I'll book it in for a check. Good to know it might just be the glow plugs. The workshop confirmed: glow plugs defective. Repair cost: 440€. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. Appreciate the help!
