Peugeot Boxer Engine Stalling

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2001 Peugeot Boxer with a gasoline engine. It has 212736 km on it. The check engine light comes on and the engine stalls, especially at idle. I think it might be the tank ventilation valve in the emission system, maybe with clogged hoses. Has anyone had similar difficulties with their Peugeot Boxer?

Summary of the thread

A 2001 Peugeot Boxer with a gasoline engine is experiencing stalling issues, especially at idle, accompanied by the check engine light. The suspected cause is a malfunctioning tank ventilation valve in the emission system, possibly with clogged hoses. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a faulty vent valve and cracked hoses, suggesting a professional diagnostic assessment is advisable.

Hey! Sounds super familiar. I had almost the exact same problem with my old Saab 9-3. Check engine light and stalling were driving me nuts! I'd bet a beer it's something to do with your EVAP system. Did you check your gas cap to make sure it's sealing properly? A loose gas cap can trigger those symptoms too.

Thanks for the suggestion. The gas cap seems to be sealing correctly. Can you elaborate on your experience with the Saab 9-3? Did the symptoms happen similarly, and what did you do to fix it? Trying to determine if the solution might be the same.

Yeah, man, the Saab was acting almost exactly the same way. Check engine light would pop on, then the engine would randomly stall at stoplights. Drove me bonkers for a while. I tried cleaning the mass airflow sensor myself but no luck. Ended up taking it to my mechanic, and it turned out to be a busted vent valve and a couple of cracked hoses. Definitely worth getting a professional to take a look and run some tests.

I appreciate your insight about the vent valve and hoses. Based on your experience, I'll arrange an appointment with a trusted mechanic for a diagnostic assessment. The diagnosis confirmed the malfunctioning tank ventilation valve and several cracked hoses within the emission system, costing 175€ to repair. Thanks again for your time and guidance.
