Peugeot Boxer engine stalls incorrect fuel composition error

My 2001 Peugeot Boxer with a gasoline engine has a check engine light and stalls when idling. An OBD2 scanner shows an error related to incorrect fuel composition. The vehicle has 69671 km on the clock. I already tried fuel additives, but the issue persists. Could it be related to the fuel filter?

Incorrect fuel composition, eh? That's a tricky one. Could be a faulty sensor, or maybe even a defective cable or plug connection to a component in the combustion chamber. Is the engine knocking at all? It might give us a clue.

Thank you for the quick response. I haven't noticed any knocking. Could you please explain more about the cable or plug connection issue? Which components should I check in the combustion chamber?

Right, no knocking rules out some things. By cable/plug I mean there might be a break in the wiring or a loose connection that's throwing off the readings. Finding it without proper tools is like looking for a needle in a haystack. The error points towards the cable being defective. You should take it to a workshop to check it properly before you damage something more. It is very common.

Thank you for the advice. I took your recommendation and visited a workshop. It turned out that a defective cable or plug connection to a component was indeed the problem. The repair cost me 95€. I appreciate your help!
