Peugeot Boxer Gear Shift Issues

Hey, I've got a 2000 Peugeot Boxer with a gasoline engine. The gear shift indicator is playing up. Won't engage gears properly, acts weird, slips, and even makes grinding noises sometimes. Plus, the gear display on the dashboard is dead. Error memory shows a fault. Any ideas?

Sounds rough. I had something similar happen in my old Opel Astra. The whole instrument panel went haywire, and it turned out to be a faulty control unit. Not sure if it's the same, but might be worth checking the car dashboard and gear selector electrics.

Interesting. What exactly was happening with your Astra before you figured it out? Was it just the display, or were there other problems?

Besides the display, the Astra would shift erratically, sometimes not at all. Best get it looked at, could be the ECU. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they confirmed it. Hope that helps.

Cheers, thanks for the info. I'll get it checked out. Sounds like the control unit is the prime suspect. Hoping it's not too pricey.
