Peugeot Boxer heavy steering and sensor fault

I've got a 2008 Peugeot Boxer with a diesel engine and I'm having some trouble. The steering has become really heavy, feels like the power steering is failing intermittently, and the steering wheel is vibrating, especially at lower speeds. I scanned it and it points towards a defective steering angle sensor. I suspect faulty coding. Anyone experienced similar issues?

Hello, I had a similar issue with my Peugeot Boxer. The symptoms you describe match what I experienced. Have you checked the wheel alignment recently?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the wheel alignment. Could alignment problems really cause the sensor to act up like that? I was leaning towards a sensor replacement.

While wheel alignment itself might not directly cause the sensor to fail, it can put extra strain on the steering system. However, given your error code and symptoms, it does sound like the steering angle sensor is the more likely culprit. I would suggest a workshop visit.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed the coding of the steering angle sensor which was faulty. The total repair cost was 195€. Appreciate the help!
