Peugeot Boxer Lean Running
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Peugeot Boxer with a gasoline engine is experiencing lean running conditions, characterized by reduced power, a check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The suspected cause is a defective fuel injector, but other potential causes include a faulty EGR valve or a malfunctioning oxygen sensor affecting the air-fuel ratio. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and possibly replace the injectors, as similar issues were resolved this way in another case.

Mileage is at 291257 km. I haven't looked at the EGR valve yet, but spark plugs are new. How did you pinpoint the issue on yours? Was it definitely fuel injectors?

It wasn't exactly the same, mine was more persistent at idle. I would still recommend checking the injectors. To be honest, it's a pain to diagnose. After checking a few things myself, I took it to a workshop. They sorted it out after swapping the injectors. Might be worth getting it checked by a pro.

Thanks for the advice! I'll probably take it to a workshop then. Just got a quote of 515€ for injector replacement, which seems fair. Hopefully, that'll sort it.

I had similar symptoms on my Boxer. Have you checked the EGR valve? Sometimes a faulty EGR can cause lean running conditions. Could also be spark plugs or even a dodgy oxygen sensor messing with the air-fuel ratio. What kind of mileage are you at?
