Peugeot Boxer rough running
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Peugeot Boxer with a gasoline engine is experiencing rough running, a check engine light, and jerking during acceleration. Possible causes suggested include issues with the crankshaft or oxygen sensor. However, a leak in the exhaust system was identified as the actual problem, affecting the engine's air-fuel mixture and causing the symptoms. Repairing the exhaust leak resolved the issue, and the vehicle now runs smoothly.

A leak in the exhaust? Hmm, I haven't specifically listened for that. Where should I be checking exactly, and how would that cause the jerking?

Yeah, a leak can mess with the engine's air-fuel mixture, causing it to run rough and trigger the light. Honestly, best bet is to get it on a lift and have a mechanic inspect the exhaust system thoroughly. It's tough to pinpoint exactly without seeing it first.

Okay, thanks for the tip! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – turns out there was a leak in the exhaust system! Repair ended up costing 265€. Runs like new now!

I had a similar issue with my Boxer. Uneven running and a check engine light. Did you check for any hissing sounds from the exhaust? It could be a leak.
