Peugeot Boxer VANOS Solenoid Fault

I'm having an issue with my 2020 Peugeot Boxer diesel. It's done 210302 km. The check engine light is on, and fuel consumption has jumped. Diagnostics point towards a fault in the inlet VANOS. Could this be a defective camshaft solenoid valve, or a power supply issue? Has anyone else experienced similar engine misfire symptoms or VANOS solenoid problems? Wondering if the timing chain is involved somehow...

Your Peugeot Boxer sounds like it's playing up like mine did a few months back! Similar symptoms – check engine light and the fuel economy went through the floor! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was going on. Was yours also feeling a bit down on power? I was starting to wonder if I should check the injectors!

Thanks for the reply! Power does seem a bit reduced. Interesting you had the same issue. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly was the problem with yours? Also, did it throw any other codes besides the check engine light? Starting to think it's connected with the inlet camshaft...

With mine, it turned out to be the VANOS solenoid valve, exactly what you suspected. I was hoping it was something easy like that, but honestly I'm no mechanic. You could try fiddling with it yourself, but in the end, I bit the bullet and took it to a proper workshop. Saved myself a load of frustration, and a bigger bill later! I'd recommend you do the same

Thanks for your advice. After a bit more research and your experience, I decided to take it to a workshop as you suggested. Turns out it was indeed the inlet camshaft VANOS solenoid valve. Repair cost me around 250€ to replace the faulty valve and reset the error codes. Appreciate the help!
