Peugeot Expert charge air temperature sensor error

My 2007 Peugeot Expert with a gasoline engine is throwing a charge air temperature sensor error. Check engine light is on, power is reduced, and there's a distinct whistling, almost like a loud hissing, when I accelerate. Got 41128 km on the clock. The error memory confirms the sensor issue. I'm thinking it's likely a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone seen anything similar?

Sounds familiar! Had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. Same symptoms: whistling, power loss, and that blasted check engine light. Have you checked for any temperature fluctuations when the engine is running? My issue ended up being a corroded connector. Think of it like a bad hose connection – the sensor can't get a clean reading if the wiring is shot.

Temperature fluctuations, huh? That's a good shout. I was so focused on the sensor itself I didn't think to monitor the temp readings live. How wild were the fluctuations on your Saab? And did the error code point specifically to the sensor, or was it more generic 'air intake' kinda thing?

The fluctuations were all over the place, like a toddler with a volume knob. And yes, the code pointed directly to the charge air temperature sensor. But trust me, before you start replacing the sensor, double-check that wiring. In my case, the sensor itself was fine; it was just getting bad info. But honestly, given the symptoms, I'd recommend biting the bullet and having a workshop take a look. Could save you a lot of headaches.

You were spot on! Took it to the shop; turned out to be a corroded connector, just like you said. New connector and a bit of wiring repair, and she's running like a champ again. Total cost: 95€ Thanks a ton for the advice!
