Peugeot Expert Fuel Flap Issue

My 2007 Peugeot Expert diesel's fuel flap release has gone completely bonkers. It won't open! I'm getting an error saying locking or unlocking the fuel filler flap is no longer possible, plus some other random vehicle functions are unavailable. I'm thinking it's maybe the linkage? Anyone else had this happen?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Peugeot Expert diesel is experiencing a malfunction with the fuel flap release, which won't open and is causing an error message about the inability to lock or unlock the fuel filler flap, along with other vehicle functions being unavailable. The issue is suspected to be an electrical fault, possibly involving the electric actuator or wiring. It is recommended to inspect these components and consult a workshop for a thorough diagnosis and repair. The problem was ultimately traced to a defective fuel flap actuator, which also caused voltage issues affecting other systems, and was resolved at a workshop.

Sounds like an electrical fault in the fuel flap release mechanism. Check the electric actuator. It may have failed, preventing the release mechanism from operating correctly. Examine the wiring for any signs of damage. Have you checked the key fob, maybe there is an issue with it?

Cheers for the quick reply! Electrical fault, eh? I'll have a look at the actuator and wiring. But wouldn't that normally throw a different error code? And what's with the other car functions being affected? The key fob opens the doors, so how could that affect the fuel door? Any more details you remember would be amazing!

A specific error code for the actuator might be expected, but a general electrical fault can sometimes trigger related systems errors. The interlinked nature of the vehicle's systems can cause unexpected issues. As for key fob, it was a wild guess, probably unrelated. Considering the additional symptoms and your error code, I would recommend consulting a workshop as soon as possible.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. Workshop it is! Seems like this is above my pay grade. Just got back from the workshop. Turned out it was the fuel flap actuator that was defective, but had also caused some voltage problem to other car systems. Cost me 210€ to get it fixed. Thanks again!
