Peugeot Expert Overvoltage Errors

I'm pulling my hair out. I've got a 2014 Peugeot Expert with a gasoline engine, and it's throwing overvoltage errors. The fault memory is packed, causing systems to go haywire. I'm also getting a weak battery when starting. It's a general electrical malfunction. I've checked the alternator output, which seems normal, and all the main fuses look good. My gut feeling is that the battery is heavily discharged or defective, causing some kind of feedback loop. Anyone experienced anything similar? Any thoughts on circuit protection issues or ECU problems?

Whoa, that sounds like a nightmare! I had a somewhat similar issue with my Peugeot Expert (don't remember the year). I was getting weird electrical gremlins, but not the overvoltage specifically. I'm no expert, but could it be a bad ground somewhere? Have you checked all the grounding straps to make sure they're clean and tight?

Thanks for the reply! I did check the main ground points from the battery to the chassis and engine block, but I'll double-check them more thoroughly. When you say "weird electrical gremlins," can you be more specific? Were you seeing any fault codes, and did it affect multiple systems?

Yeah, it was affecting multiple systems – the radio would cut out randomly, the ABS light would flicker, and sometimes the power windows would act up. I can't remember the exact fault codes now. After checking different components I took it to a workshop to get it checked. They found it to be a heavily discharged battery. I know you already checked the alternator, but maybe get the battery load-tested just to be sure?

Thanks for the info! That's really helpful. I had the battery load-tested like you suggested, and it turns out it was indeed the culprit. It was heavily discharged and defective, causing the overvoltage and all the associated problems. Replaced the battery, and everything seems to be back to normal now. Final repair cost was 290€ Appreciate the advice!
