Peugeot Expert Preheating Lamp Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Peugeot Expert diesel is experiencing issues with the preheating lamp not switching off, the check engine light being on, and smoke during acceleration. A diagnostic test indicates a defective glow control unit, and there is suspicion of a faulty cable or plug connection. The problem was resolved by replacing the defective cable to the plug, confirming the initial suspicion about the glow control unit.

Yeah, I checked the glow plugs and they seem okay. The diagnostic is pretty clear that the control unit itself is throwing the error. Was yours definitely the same control unit issue, or was it something else that just presented the same?

Okay, so I'm not 100% sure if it was exactly the same 'control unit' thing, but the symptoms were spot on. I took it to a workshop, they plugged it in, and sorted it pretty quickly, and it wasn't too expensive. I'd suggest getting it checked out professionally rather than poking around too much yourself.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it. I'll take it to a local workshop and get them to check it out. Turns out it was indeed the glow control unit. The cable to the plug was defective, and the repair cost me 95€.

Hey, I had something similar with my Expert (although it's not the same year). Same symptoms – preheating light staying on and the engine light popping up. Did you try checking the glow plugs themselves?
