Peugeot Expert rough running

Hi. I'm having some trouble with my 2002 Peugeot Expert gasoline. It's got about 217k km on it and lately it's been running rough. I'm experiencing reduced engine power, jerking when accelerating, and I've noticed some smoke coming out the back when I put my foot down. Also, the engine light is on and I have an error stored in the error memory. Could this be pre-ignition? Any ideas?

Yes, it's more of a knocking sound. Like knocking combustion. How did you resolve your problem? What exactly did you check?

That's what I thought. I'm not a mechanic but that sounds like a job for a professional. You can try some fuel additives to help clean the combustion chamber, but I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Likely cylinder heads need a good cleaning. I let the professionals take care of it, as the ignition timing might also be off.

Thanks, that's helpful. I took it to the shop and you were right, the combustion chamber was full of deposits. They cleaned it all out and adjusted the ignition timing. Cost me 425€, but it's running smoothly now!
