Peugeot iOn ABS and Lateral Acceleration Sensor Fault

I'm stressed! My 2015 Peugeot iOn (electric engine) is throwing scary errors. The ABS lamp is constantly on, and the whole ABS system seems to have given up. A diagnostic scan shows a fault with the lateral acceleration sensor stored in the error memory at 227279 km. Has this happened to anyone else? Could a defective electronic control unit be the culprit?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my iOn. Same ABS light and everything. Did the ESP light also come on? For me, it was all linked to some kind of electronic stability problem. Was the steering angle sensor involved, maybe?

ESP light too, yes! Steering angle... Hmm, I didn't check that specifically. So it really sounds like the same thing? What exactly was wrong with yours, and how did you get it sorted? Was it something simple, or did you need a full replacement?

Yep, sounds like the same gremlin. I wouldn't call it simple, unfortunately. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the lateral acceleration sensor and that the affected control unit was indeed defective. They had to replace the whole thing. Get it checked ASAP!

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I'll book it into the shop first thing tomorrow. They've quoted around 1000€ for the repair, so I hope that's the end of it. Thanks for your help!
