Yes, that's the one! The entire belt drive system. When you say 'similar problems', was it the belt tensioner or something else entirely? Trying to get a handle on this before I start throwing money at it.

It was indeed the belt tensioner, and more specifically the idler pulley. While it could possibly be repaired, my mechanic suggested a replacement due to the potential for further issues. I would recommend a visit to the workshop.

Cheers, appreciate the insight! Turns out you were spot on. Workshop confirmed it was a defective belt tensioner, just like you suggested. Repair cost came to 455€. All sorted now, thankfully!

I own an iOn too, and I had similar problems some time ago. By 'belt-handover thingy' do you mean the belt drive system for the auxiliary components?
