Peugeot iOn Brake Light Fault

I'm stumped. My 2011 Peugeot iOn (electric) has weird brake light issues. The dashboard shows error messages, the brake lights sometimes fail, and the error memory stores a fault related to the brake light switch. I've checked the bulbs, and I suspect the brake light switch itself. Has anyone experienced anything like this? It's got 156703 km on the clock. The infotainment system displays a generic 'Check Vehicle' warning, but I pulled the actual error code using an OBD reader.

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a 2011 Peugeot iOn experiencing brake light issues, with dashboard error messages and a fault related to the brake light switch. The suspected cause was initially the brake light switch itself. However, the problem was resolved by removing fluff stuck behind the brake pedal, which was preventing the switch from functioning properly. This simple fix restored normal operation without any cost, highlighting the importance of checking basic issues before seeking professional help.

I have a Peugeot iOn, too. I had a similar issue a while back. Intermittent brake light failure, error messages... It was a pain. Was the error code something about the brake light switch circuit?

Yes, that's exactly it! The error code points directly to a faulty brake light switch circuit. Did you end up replacing the switch yourself? And was it difficult? I'm trying to avoid a costly trip to the mechanic if it's something simple to fix.

I didn't do it myself. I took it to a workshop. It's fiddly and I didn't want to mess with the brake system. They confirmed it was the switch. I'd suggest getting it checked professionally, just to be sure.

I just got it sorted! Turns out, it was just a bit of fluff stuck behind the brake pedal preventing it from fully releasing and triggering the switch. Cleaned it out, and everything is back to normal. Repair cost: 0€! I feel a bit silly, but at least it's fixed. Definitely a lesson in checking the simple things first!
