Peugeot iOn Tire Pressure Sensor Fault

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2015 Peugeot iOn (electric). The tire pressure warning light is on, and the speedometer displays a 'Tire Pressure Too Low' error. I've checked the tire pressures manually, and they're all perfectly fine. I even went to my mechanic and he read out the error memory, confirming a sensor fault. Could it be the sensor battery? It's driving me mad!

I had a similar problem with my iOn, though I didn't manually check the pressure first. These cars use a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), and each tire has a sensor transmitting pressure data. When the battery in a sensor dies, it throws a fault. Did the error code specify which sensor is failing? That's crucial for pinpointing the culprit.

That's interesting. The error code didn't specify a particular sensor. It was a generic TPMS error. Is there any way to check the sensor's battery status without specialized equipment?

Unfortunately, without a TPMS diagnostic tool, you're flying blind. The sensors transmit on a specific radio frequency, and you need a tool to receive and interpret the data, including battery health. Given the age of your iOn, a sensor battery failure is highly probable. My workshop confirmed it immediately with their tool. I'd advise visiting a workshop equipped with TPMS tools; it will save you time and potential frustration.

Thank you so much for your help! I took your advice and went to a workshop with TPMS diagnostic tools. You were spot on – the front-right sensor's battery was dead. They replaced the sensor, and the error is gone. The repair cost me 280€. Now I know what to look for next time.
