Peugeot Partner Oil Pressure Warning

My 2018 Peugeot Partner diesel has a warning light and oil pressure lamp on. The van has done 18629 kilometers. Could this be related to contaminated engine oil? I've seen no leaks or used additives, but the oil looks darker than usual. Could the maintenance interval be exceeded?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane! Same symptoms, warning light and oil pressure lamp. Dark oil is definitely not a good sign; it means it's full of contaminants. When was your last oil change? It really does sound like the maintenance interval has been exceeded, and that can cause serious problems. Worth checking ASAP.

Could you elaborate on the 'serious problems' that might arise from an exceeded maintenance interval? Did you experience similar oil color changes with your Renault Megane, and if so, what steps did you take to resolve it?

Well, with the Megane, leaving it too long caused sludge buildup, which restricts oil flow and can damage the engine. The oil was practically black. I'd strongly recommend getting it checked by a workshop. An oil change might fix it, but they can also check for any lasting damage.

I took your advice and consulted with a workshop. They confirmed the contamination was indeed due to an exceeded maintenance interval. The repair, including an oil change and filter replacement, cost 165€. Thanks again for your help.
