Thanks for the quick reply! No unusual noises that I've noticed, and no recent electrical work. What exactly does the AC control unit do, and why would a fault there cause all these symptoms? Is there any way to test it myself before taking it to a shop?

The AC control unit is essentially the brain of the air conditioning system. It regulates the compressor, fans, and other components to maintain the desired temperature. A defective control unit can prevent the compressor from engaging, hence no cooling and the error code. Unfortunately, testing it usually requires specialized diagnostic equipment that most home mechanics don't have. Given the symptoms, it's highly probable that's the culprit. A workshop visit seems unavoidable.

Okay, thanks for the clarification about the control unit, that makes sense. I appreciate you confirming that it's likely beyond my DIY skills! I'll book it in with a workshop to get it checked out properly. It turns out the AC control unit was indeed defective and after replacing it together with the refrigerant compressor itself, the AC is working again. Cost me 980€ but now the car is running fine.

Greetings. It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue related to the air conditioning system. The error code plus the other symptoms point towards a potential problem with the refrigerant compressor or the AC control unit. Have you noticed any unusual noises coming from the engine bay when the AC is supposed to be running? Any recent work done on the car's electrical system?
