Peugeot RCZ Throttle Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2014 Peugeot RCZ was experiencing issues with higher fuel consumption and difficulty starting, suspected to be due to a defective throttle valve. A possible cause considered was a faulty accelerator pedal module. After consulting with others who had similar issues, it was suggested to check the throttle position sensor and consider cleaning the throttle body. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be the accelerator pedal module, which was replaced, resolving the issues with fuel consumption and starting.

Interesting! The car has 256921 km on it. You mentioned the throttle position sensor and cleaning the throttle body. Could you elaborate on that a bit? Where exactly is the sensor located, and is cleaning the throttle body something I can do myself, or should I leave it to professionals?

With that mileage, a faulty throttle valve is not unexpected. I had the same debate with myself about cleaning it. Eventually, I chose to bring my Astra to a local mechanic, who confirmed the throttle position sensor issue and fixed it. It might be more complex than just cleaning. Best to let pros handle it.

Thanks! Based on your experience and advice, I took my RCZ to the workshop. They confirmed it was indeed the accelerator pedal module and replaced it; the repair cost me 205€. Fuel consumption is back to normal and starting is no longer an issue!

Hey! I had similar problems with my Opel Astra. The symptoms sound very familiar. Did you check the throttle position sensor? Maybe cleaning the throttle body could help? How many kilometers are on the clock?
