Peugeot Rifter boost pressure issue

I'm at my wit's end with my 2020 Peugeot Rifter gasoline engine. This boost pressure system is giving me grey hairs! The check engine light mocks me daily, engine power is pathetic, and the engine response? Forget it! It even stalls sometimes at idle. And to add insult to injury, the fuel consumption has skyrocketed, with a weird whistling sound accompanying a loud hissing when accelerating. I suspect the wastegate valve, but I'm open to suggestions. Has anyone faced something similar? Could it be the MAP sensor or turbocharger itself?

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my Rifter, though I never pinpointed the exact build year. Reduced power, hissing sounds... I even thought the turbo was about to explode. Did you check the pressure sensor? It may be faulty.

Thanks for the quick reply! I appreciate it. Where exactly did you hear the hissing sound? And was it constant, or only under acceleration? Because I was thinking the turbo lag is incredibly bad right now, I am not sure whether it is related to the wastegate or something else, could you please elaborate on that?

The hissing was definitely worse under acceleration. I initially thought it was a boost leak, but it turned out to be a faulty wastegate valve. Honestly, save yourself the headache and get it checked by a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly.

Cheers! Workshop it is then. Just got the final bill: 860€ for a new wastegate valve, but finally everything is working as it should again!
