Pilot engine stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Honda Pilot is experiencing engine stalling at idle, with the check engine light on, and an error indicating a faulty idle air control (IAC) valve. A potential cause could be heavy intake contamination affecting the IAC valve's function. It is suggested to inspect and possibly clean the throttle body, though professional assistance is recommended due to the complexity of the task.

Throttle body, huh? Is cleaning it a DIY kind of job, or are we talking specialized tools and skills?

Cleaning it is theoretically DIY, but unless you're comfortable diving into the engine, I'd advise against it. Think of it like open-heart surgery for your car – best left to the pros. Contamination can be more extensive than it appears. My issue required a proper diagnosis and recalibration. Turns out the intake was heavily contaminated and needed a thorough cleaning. My bill came to around 425€ including parts and labor.

Appreciate the advice. I will take it to my local workshop to have it checked.

Sounds familiar! I have a Pilot too. Had similar stalling issues and engine light. Have you checked your throttle body for gunk? It's like the heart of your engine's air intake system, and when that gets clogged, the IAC valve can't do its job.
