Pilot gear shift indicator issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Honda Pilot is experiencing issues with the gear shift indicator, causing erratic behavior and transmission problems, including grinding noises and a non-functional gear selection display. The problem may be related to a faulty control unit or sensor. A suggested solution is to have the vehicle checked by a professional to diagnose the error code and inspect the control unit to prevent further transmission damage.

Seriously? That's wild! So, what did you end up doing to fix it? Was it a sensor issue like you suspected, or something else entirely? Any details would be a lifesaver!

Yep, totally fried control unit. Take it to a shop to check the error code and module, otherwise your transmission will take damage! I had to pay 1000€, because the problem was deeper!

Thanks! That's super helpful. I'll get it to the shop ASAP and mention the control unit. Hopefully, it won't cost me an arm and a leg, but at least I have a direction to go in now! Big thanks!

Dude, that sounds EXACTLY like what happened to my Pilot! I thought I was going crazy. Is it the sensor or the entire shift knob module? It caused havoc with my transmission, similar to yours!
