Pino steering angle sensor failure

I've got a perplexing issue concerning my 2010 Nissan Pino with a gasoline engine. With 56743 km, I've encountered an alarming problem with what I suspect is a defective steering angle sensor. There's increased effort required when steering, almost as if the power steering system is intermittently failing. More concerning is a vibration or shaking from the steering wheel, particularly noticeable at lower speeds. The error codes point towards a malfunction within the steering angle sensor, possibly faulty coding. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their Nissan Pino steering?

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2010 Nissan Pino experiencing steering difficulties, suspected to be caused by a defective steering angle sensor. Symptoms include increased steering effort and steering wheel vibrations, particularly at lower speeds. Error codes indicate a malfunction in the steering angle sensor, possibly due to faulty coding. The suggested solution involves replacing and recalibrating the sensor, which resolved the issue.

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had almost the exact same thing happen with my Pino! The shaking and the hard steering were terrifying, especially when trying to park. The steering angle sensor, which is basically a little gadget that tells the car which way you're pointing the steering wheel, was totally borked. I remember thinking my alignment was off at first, like the wheels were fighting me, but it was definitely electrical.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Could you elaborate on the 'totally borked' sensor? Did your diagnostic checks also point specifically to the steering angle sensor, and if so, were there any specific error codes associated with the fault? Any info on the error codes or any other ways you knew it was that?

Yeah, "totally borked" is maybe not the most technical term, haha. But seriously, the diagnostics were screaming about the steering angle sensor. I honestly can't remember the exact error codes (sorry, my memory is terrible!), but the mechanic was sure it was that sensor causing all the trouble. Listen, with those symptoms, I'd bet good money that's your problem too. Just take it to a good workshop. They will know what to do.

Your suspicion regarding the defective steering angle sensor was indeed confirmed by my mechanic. The coding was faulty. The repair cost, including sensor replacement and recalibration, amounted to 195€. This issue is now resolved. I trust that this record might assist others in the future in understanding similar sensor failures.
