Pixo Active Hood Fault

I'm tearing my hair out! I've got a 2013 Nissan Pixo with a gasoline engine, and this darn "Active hood fault" message keeps popping up on the dash. The airbag warning light's on too! I plugged it into a reader, and there's an error stored. It feels like the spring actuators have been triggered – that's what the error log says. Anyone else encountered this?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Nissan Pixo displayed an "Active hood fault" message and an airbag warning light, with an error code B1049 indicating a potential issue with the acceleration sensor. This sensor is crucial for the active hood system, which is part of the vehicle's safety features. The recommended solution was to have a qualified technician examine and repair the system, which led to the replacement of the faulty acceleration sensor, resolving the issue.

The symptoms you describe certainly point towards a potential issue within the active hood system. The error message, airbag warning, and triggered actuators strongly suggest a fault. Could you provide more details regarding the specific error code retrieved from the onboard diagnostic system? This might help narrow down the potential causes.

Thanks for the quick reply! The error code is B1049. I've been reading online and some people mentioned a defective acceleration sensor. Does that sound plausible?

Error code B1049 does indeed suggest a potential issue with the acceleration sensor responsible for triggering the active hood system. Given the symptoms and the error code, it would be prudent to have a qualified technician examine the system. The active hood is an integral part of the vehicle's safety system, and its proper functioning is crucial. I would advise against attempting repairs yourself, as this system is rather complex. A visit to a workshop is highly recommended.

Thanks so much for confirming my suspicions and the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was indeed the acceleration sensor. They replaced it, cleared the codes, and everything's back to normal. Cost me around 315€, but at least it's fixed. Cheers!
