Pixo coolant leak diagnosis
Summary of the thread
The 2013 Nissan Pixo experienced a check engine light due to a low coolant level, suggesting a potential coolant leak. Initial suggestions included checking for air pockets in the system and inspecting for visible leaks or strange smells. A mechanic later identified a small leak at the water pump through a pressure test, which was repaired for 52€.

Thank you for your swift response. I haven't specifically checked for air pockets. How would one go about doing that? I haven't noticed any visible leaks, but I will inspect more thoroughly tomorrow morning.

Well, I tried to bleed the system myself, watched a few videos, but honestly, I just ended up making a mess and potentially made it worse, because I didn't really know what I was doing. Took it to a workshop nearby, and they sorted it pretty quick. They checked the usual suspects like radiator cap, hoses, the water pump, and said that everything seemed okay, but they did find a small crack in one of the hoses. So to be honest, I would recommend you going to the workshop.

Understood. Thank you for sharing your experience. I took it to a mechanic. They pressure tested the cooling system and found a small leak at the water pump. Repair cost was 52€ including parts and labor.

I have a Nissan Pixo as well, though I don't remember the exact build year. I had a similar issue last year. My coolant light was constantly on. Have you checked for air pockets in the system? Sometimes that can trigger the sensor even if the coolant level seems okay. Also, have you noticed any strange smells or visible leaks under the car?
