Pixo Hissing and Fuel Economy

I've got a 2012 Nissan Pixo with a gasoline engine. Lately, the fuel economy has been terrible, and the check engine light is on. I also hear a loud hissing sound when accelerating. I suspect an air intake leak, maybe a hose? Mileage is only 27610 km. Anyone else had this?

That sounds familiar. I had almost the exact same symptoms with my old Renault Clio – hissing, bad fuel economy, the works! Have you checked the air filter and the hoses around the throttle body? Could be a split hose somewhere.

Thanks for the tip! Which hose was it on your Clio? And how hard was it to spot?

It was a small crack on the intake hose, near the intake manifold. Honestly, it was a pain to find! I'd recommend getting someone to rev the engine while you have a good listen and feel around for escaping air. But if you're not sure, best to get a workshop to take a look. They'll find it quicker!

Thanks! Will check the hose, but if I can't find the leak I'll bring it in. Appreciate the help! It turned out to be the intake hose, as suspected. Cost me 100€ to get it fixed.
