Platina knocking combustion
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Nissan Platina is experiencing a persistent knocking issue, accompanied by reduced power, jerking, smoke, and an error code. Diagnostics indicate that combustion chamber deposits are the likely cause. The suggested solution involves a cylinder head treatment to address the deposits, which was confirmed by a mechanic.

The knocking is present regardless of engine temperature. I consistently use the recommended octane. What were the specifics of your experience, symptoms, and diagnostic steps?

Yeah, mine was doing the same thing, but only when it was cold. Since it's happening all the time for you, and you're using the right fuel, I'd say you really need to get it checked by a workshop. Could be serious. I hope it's nothing terminal!

I scheduled an appointment with a mechanic. The deposits in the combustion chamber were the primary cause, needing a cylinder head treatment. Total cost was 425€, including labor and materials. Thanks again for your assistance.

Whoa, sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my Platina. Was it happening mostly when the engine was cold, or all the time? Also, what fuel octane are you using?
