Platina rough running and misfire
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Nissan Platina was experiencing rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause was a defective ignition coil, possibly due to a faulty cable or plug connection. An error code indicated a misfire on cylinder #3, which strongly suggested an ignition coil issue. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the problem was indeed a defective ignition coil and a corroded plug connection, which were repaired, resolving the issue.

I did retrieve a code indicating a misfire on cylinder #3. Does this definitively point to the ignition coil, or could it be something else?

While other issues could theoretically cause a misfire, the code strongly suggests a coil pack problem, especially given the symptoms you described. You could try swapping the coil from cylinder #3 with one from another cylinder and see if the misfire follows. However, I advise taking it to a qualified workshop and having the cables, plugs and coil itself tested.

I followed your suggestion and took it to a workshop. It was a defective ignition coil, along with a corroded plug connection as initially suspected. The total repair cost was 95€. The car now runs smoothly. Thank you again!

I had similar symptoms in my Platina. A misfire can feel like a stumble. Have you checked for any specific error codes using an OBDII scanner? This would confirm a coil failure.
