Platina Windshield Wipers Failure

My 2004 Nissan Platina with a gasoline engine has a windshield wiper problem. They've stopped working. I scanned it and got a generic code. Fuses are fine. Could it be the wiper switch?

Summary of the thread

The 2004 Nissan Platina's windshield wipers have stopped working, despite the fuses being intact. A potential cause could be a faulty wiper switch, but another possibility is a corroded connector in the wiring harness, as suggested by a similar issue experienced with a different vehicle. Checking the wiring harness for corrosion or shared circuit issues with other components like turn signals or rain sensors might help identify the problem. If the issue persists, consulting a professional workshop is recommended for a thorough diagnosis and repair.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3 where the wipers would stop mid-sweep. It was a corroded connector in the wiring harness near the motor. Do the turn signals or the rain sensor work when the wipers don't? If other functions on the same circuit are affected, it strengthens the case for a wiring harness issue.

Interesting analogy. I'll check the harness for corrosion. Are the turn signals or the rain sensor located on the same circuit? How did you manage to get to the harness? Was it difficult?

Yes, on my Saab, the turn signals and rain sensor shared part of the same wiring loom as the wipers. If those are acting up, it definitely points to a shared wiring problem. Accessing the harness was a pain; it was tucked away behind the dashboard. Unless you are comfortable with auto electrics, I would suggest taking it to a trusted workshop. Sometimes, what seems like a small fix can turn into a real headache!

I think I will take it to the workshop. They quoted me 95€, so it's not the end of the world. Probably a defective cable or plug connection. Thanks for the advice!
