Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much the cleaning/repair job cost you? Also, has everything stayed working properly since then? I'm trying to get a sense of whether this might be a recurring issue I need to watch out for. My previous mechanic really overcharged me for a simple fix, so I'm a bit wary this time around.

Hey there again! Happy to help out with those questions. Yeah, after I got it fixed last month, everything's been working perfectly fine, no more glitchy parking sensors or dashboard warnings. My mechanic charged me 45€ for cleaning and checking the radar sensor, which honestly felt pretty reasonable considering it completely solved the problem. Since you mentioned being worried about getting overcharged (been there!), I'd say this kind of sensor issue usually isn't a wallet-breaker. The dirty sensor was really just that, dirty! Once they cleaned it up properly, it's been smooth sailing. Just make sure you go to someone who knows Porsches, it makes a big difference. And just a heads up, while it could happen again if the sensors get really dirty, it's not something that should be a regular problem. I've started giving the sensors a quick wipe during car washes to help prevent it from happening again. Hope this helps with your decision! Let me know how it goes if you get it checked out!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! I finally got my Cayman checked out today, and you were spot on! Went to this Porsche specialist I found through a local car club. The whole experience was way better than my last mechanic. Turns out my sensors were also just gunked up with dirt and road grime, plus there was a bit of moisture in one of the connections. They cleaned everything up, applied some protective coating, and now it's working perfectly. Best part? Only paid €60 for the whole job, including diagnostics. Such a relief it wasn't anything major! They also showed me how to properly clean the sensors during my regular car wash routine to prevent this from happening again. Really appreciate everyone's help here, saved me from stressing out over what turned out to be a pretty simple fix. Think I've finally found my go-to mechanic too! Thanks again!

Had a similar issue with my 2015 Porsche Boxster last month. The parking sensors were acting crazy, sometimes working, sometimes not. Got warnings on the dash too. Turned out the front sensors were just really dirty and had some minor corrosion on the connectors. Took it to my trusted mechanic who cleaned the sensors and connections thoroughly. He also checked the wiring harness since these issues can sometimes be related. In my case, it wasn't anything serious, just needed a good clean and some contact spray on the connections. Been working perfectly since then. I'd recommend finding a Porsche specialist who can properly diagnose it first, they have the right diagnostic tools for these cars. Simple sensor cleaning might do the trick, but better have it checked properly to rule out any bigger issues.
