Porter Automatic Transmission Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Hyundai Porter diesel is experiencing erratic shifting, a persistent transmission light, and sometimes gets stuck in emergency mode. The initial suspicion was an issue with the automatic transmission oil. However, it was suggested that undervoltage might be the cause, affecting the transmission control unit. A professional diagnostic confirmed the undervoltage issue, which was then resolved at a workshop.

Undervoltage? That's interesting! I wouldn't have thought of that. How did you figure out it was undervoltage, and what did you do to fix it? Any specific areas I should check?

The emergency mode and erratic shifting were the main clues, along with the transmission light. A diagnostic check at a workshop confirmed the undervoltage issue affecting the transmission control unit. I would recommend having it professionally diagnosed.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – it was indeed an undervoltage problem messing with the transmission. They sorted it out for 240€! Massive thanks for your help!

Interesting. I have a Porter as well, and experienced similar symptoms a while back. Have you checked for undervoltage issues?
